Over some twenty years of independent classical recording production, he has over 900 recordings to his name and has worked with some of the most distinguished musicians of our time. Andrew has produced all of the Sinfonietta's recordings.

I supervise the musical running of the Sinfonietta's recording sessions.
What is the best thing about working for an orchestra?
Hearing, seeing and being thrilled by the interaction of human beings who happen to be musicians.
What is the worst?!
Trying to ensure everyone feels as relaxed as possible when working against the clock. Though the adrenalin rush (players' and mine) can be productive.
Do you play an instrument or if not, what would it be?
Did play piano and cello, with (I thought at the time) flair but sod all technique. Too lazy to work at it.
In your opinion, which piece of music is a must-have for the CD collection, classical or otherwise?
Elgar's Second Symphony. Tomorrow it'll be different.
In your opinion, which piece of music most embodies the spirit of Lancashire?
The Coronation Street theme (...sorry, that's Greater Manchester).
