Jean Rigby (Mezzo)
A regular guest at the Glyndebourne Festival, Jean Rigby has also sung with English National Opera, the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, Netherlands Opera, Flanders Opera, Seattle Opera and San Diego Opera. In concert she sings with the major orchestras and festivals. Her extensive discography ranges from Bach, Vivaldi and Handel to Britten, Janacek and Birtwistle, and includes her acclaimed recording of the title role in the Rape of Lucretia, conducted by Richard Hickox.
Most recently she returned to the Glyndebourne Festival for Otello and Peter Eötvös' 'Love and Other Demons', made her debut at the Liceu, Barcelona in 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' and sang Meg Page ('Falstaff'), Ruth ('The Pirates of Penzance') and Suzuki ('Madam Butterfly') for English National Opera.
Her forthcoming engagements include Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro) for Garsington Opera, Arnalta (L'incoronazione di Poppea) for Glyndebourne on Tour and Bianca (The Rape of Lucretia) for the Theater an der Wien.
