Once upon a time, there was an orchestra who told stories. The clarinets chuckled and the violins chattered as they sang their enchanting tales. Princesses sighed through golden flutes and wolves growled and prowled round the double bass...the horns whispered secrets and the trumpets made heroes brave. The whole orchestra used their musical rainbow to bring the fairytales to life.
This mesmerising evening will share the mystical story of the Sword in the Stone and the timeless classic Russian fable, Peter and the Wolf. A magical concert for all ages directed by Lyn Fletcher, leader of the internationally acclaimed Hallé orchestra.

The Big Draw

Children and adults of all ages are invited to join our open art rehearsal. Whilst the orchestra is busy practicing, artists can get up very close to sketch their favourite instrument and are invited to exhibit their work at the evening concert. Artists under 18 can buy a concert ticket for just £2.
The Big Draw is the national campaign for drawing and this event is part of the national festival.
