WILDE STORIES
In 2006-07, The Lancashire Sinfonietta chose some uplifting and thought-provoking material on which to base its' Education Programme - Wilde Stories - a Trilogy of children's stories by Oscar Wilde.
Animated in three distinctly different styles, the films reveal the magic of Wilde's story-telling. They contain messages which can be read on many levels, making the films fascinating and engaging for both children and adults.
These films feature a host of well-known voice talents including Pete Postlethwaite, and a cast of talented child actors.
The Oscar Wilde Stories feature an original orchestral score by renowned 
film composer Debbie Wiseman. This CD was nominated for a Grammy Award and Debbie Wiseman was involved in the formation of this Education Programme.
Workshops were devised for age groups ranging from pre-school to adults, led by the experienced musicians of the Lancashire Sinfonietta. The stories, animation and soundtrack provided the core material for work during the year and inspire original work created in response to techniques and themes in the films. New films were also created by student and amateur filmmakers in response to the Sinfonietta's recordings.
The year's work culminated in a live performance for all our participants of Wiseman's score with the films performed by the full orchestra in the Charter Theatre, Preston in March 2007.
