Dear Friends,
After the summer that never was, we’ve got some wonderful concerts to cheer you up!
The season opens with 2 family concerts, directed by Lyn Fletcher, leader of the internationally famed Hallé orchestra.
Actor, Amy Worth, will narrate two enchanting bedtime stories including the premiere of a musical children’s story The Sword in the Stone by our Young Composer in Residence, Andrew Smith. Watch out later this year for the release of Peter and the Wolf on our next CD.
Grab the children and get down there early to catch our Big Draw - a chance for artists of all ages to sketch the orchestra in rehearsal.
We’re swiftly following on these concerts with our Handel and Haydn tribute - both composers share an anniversary year and we have gathered an astonishing array of voices (including Fylde opera diva, Jean Rigby) to celebrate, under the direction of the enigmatic Andrew Watkinson. Quite simply unmissable concerts!
The Sinfonietta is increasing its commitment to families this season with the launch of The Sound Playground - a 2-year programme supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. There will be over 200 workshops and concerts with Burnley’s families and we’re already off to a flying start with our first Lullaby Baby project.
Lancashire continues to attract world-class talent to perform in our County. This is your orchestra - enjoy everything it has to offer this season!
